2012 Best of Show
CalVET Mobile Application
Natoma’s CalVET mobile app was awarded “Best of Show” at the annual Government Mobility Conference —beating all other contenders. The award was presented to the CalVET mobile app team by Assembly member Joan Buchanan and Technology Agency Secretary Carlos Ramos. The app was also a finalist in the “Most Innovative” app category. Natoma’s CalVET Mobile Application, created for the California Department of Veterans Affairs, was specifically designed for California veterans and their families. Using the CalVet mobile app, California veterans can now gain anywhere/anytime access to information on employment, education, housing and health benefits and services that help them transition from military to civilian life.

Air Resources Board Equipment Registration System
Winner in the “Best Application Meeting an Agency’s Business Needs” category, Natoma’s Air Resources Board Equipment Registration (ARBER) System developed in collaboration with the California Air Resources Board centralizes the registration of multiple California air regulatory programs and registries via an easy-to-use online system. The Natoma-developed system has also contributed major cost savings to the State of California by avoiding an estimated $6.5 million in paper and labor costs since the on-line system launch in January of 2009. The Best of California Awards program, sponsored by the Center for Digital Government, salutes IT professionals and projects in California state and local government organizations and educational institutions.
2010 National Best Fit Integrator
Clean Trucks Registry, Ports of Long Beach & Los Angeles
In 2010, Natoma Technologies received the National Best Fit Integrator award for its Clean Trucks Registry and was honored as a top national integrator of technology solutions for government. Natoma designed, developed and implemented a new Port-owned Drayage Truck Registry (PDTR) via a secure database system containing over 16,000 drayage trucks and 1,000 licensed motor carrier companies providing drayage services. The PDTR is a key component of the Clean Trucks Program that received the United States EPA Environmental Justice award for reducing harmful air emission impacts to surrounding communities. The Clean Trucks Program has reduced air pollution from harbor trucks by 80 percent. The National Best Fit Integrator Awards is the Center for Digital Government’s award program for government to recognize its private sector partners, those companies who work closely with government to tailor solutions to suit the unique needs of government.
2007 National Best Fit Integrator
Reinvention in Health and Human Services for the Department of Health Services Cal-SOLQ/MMA Project
In 2007, Natoma Technologies received the National Best Fit Integrator award for its Cal-SOLQ/MMA system designed for and was honored as a top national integrator of technology solutions for government. The Cal-SOLQ/MMA system – a real-time interface with the Federal Social Security Administration to speed the enrollment verification for citizens eligible for MediCal insurance – was developed by Natoma Technologies for the California Department of Health Care Services and is a national award-winning Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) solution using Web Services / SOAP messaging. It is the first enterprise SOA solution in production in the California State Government aligned with the California Enterprise Architecture Program (CEAP) Vision. The Cal-SOLQ application provides real time, immediate access to the Federal Social Security Administration database and enables authorized DHCS users to obtain SSN, Title II and Title XVI information. 2007 Excellence in Government Transformation Using Technology
In 2007, Natoma’s Cal-SOLQ system was recognized by the National Electronic Commerce Coordinating Council (eC3) and received the 2007 Award for Excellence in Government Transformation Using Technology. The Cal-SOLQ project provides On-Line Query provides real-time, immediate access to a range of federal and state government agency information, including client information to determine Medicare and Medicaid eligibility. The NECCC serves as an alliance of government organizations dedicated to promoting electronic government through the exploration of emerging issues and best practices.
2007 Best Solution Award
Natoma Technologies’ Cal-SOLQ project, for the California Department of Health Care Services, received the 2007 Best Solution Award at the GTC West’s Conference on California’s Future for the design, development, and implementation of the first Service Oriented Architecture suite of reusable web services for any California state department. Cal-SOLQ was the first SOA production system in California, enabling real time access to the Federal Social Security Administration data for authorized California state government workers. The GTC West’s Conference on California’s Future is the largest and most respected technology conference for state and local government.
2005 Best of California Project Award
California Governor’s eBudget System
Natoma received the 2005 Best of California Project award from the Center for Digital Government for implementation of the California Governor’s eBudget System. The eBudget System provides an online presentation of the full California State Budget, allowing for increased public visibility and transparency of the Governor’s budget for California citizens, and improving the Governor’s internal budget preparation process. The Best of California Awards program, sponsored by the Center for Digital Government, salutes IT professionals and projects in California state and local government organizations and educational institutions.
2005 National Association of State Budget Officers Award | California Governor’s eBudget System
In 2005, Natoma was recognized and honored with the National Association of State Budget Officers Award for the California Governor’s eBudget System. Natoma’s eBudget System provided an online presentation of the full California State Budget. This project increased public visibility and transparency of the Governor’s budget for California citizens, and improved the Governor’s internal budget preparation process.
National Association of Insurance Commissioners Award
Enterprise Information Portal for CDI
Natoma was recognized by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners as an award recipient for the design and implementation of an enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solution that established the California Department of Insurance’s (CDI) business and operational standards enabling executives to proactively manage the department from any location. The solution was one of the first enterprise BI dashboards in the State, and helped improve efficiency and communication throughout the CDI.
