Client Problem: The CEA is a publicly managed, largely privately funded organization that provides catastrophic residential earthquake insurance and encourages Californians to reduce their risk of earthquake loss. CEA was incurring significant costs due to manually inputting and editing provider claim and payment information into their legacy systems, causing high error rates and delayed financial reporting.
Natoma Solution: Natoma designed, built, and implemented the web-based NEIC solution. The NEIC provides residential earthquake insurance for Californians. The NEIC is used for gathering financial and insurance information from all the earthquake insurance providers in California, enabling the CEA to automatically process earthquake insurance submissions, manage insurance company viability, and track over $3 billion in funding.
Result: The CEA’s NEIC solution significantly improved internal efficiencies, reduced discrepancies with insurance providers, and allowed the department to consistently and accurately report on financial status.
