The Best of California award in the “Best Application Meeting an Agency’s Business Needs” category is for the Air Resources Board Equipment Registration (ARBER) System that Natoma developed in collaboration with the California Air Resources Board. The ARBER solution centralizes the registration of multiple California air regulatory programs and registries via an easy to use on-line system. Data stored in the system helps the ARB staff monitor Statewide emission trends and accurately track air quality regulatory compliance and equipment specific enforcement efforts. The Natoma-developed system has also contributed major cost savings to the State of California by avoiding an estimated $6.5 million in paper and labor costs since the on-line system launch in January of 2009.
The Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles selected Natoma to design, develop, and implement a new Port-owned Drayage Truck Registry (PDTR) includes a secure database system that contains over 16,000 drayage trucks and 1,000 Licensed Motor Carrier companies providing drayage services to the Ports. The Natoma-developed PDTR is a key component of the Clean Trucks Program that received the United States EPA Environmental Justice award for reducing harmful air emission impacts to surrounding communities. The Clean Trucks Program has reduced air pollution from harbor trucks by 80 percent.
